Birds, fish and mythical creatures populate the colourful universe of Norbert de Jong. In his Outsider Art, animals rarely stand alone — they communicate, dance and carry meaning.
“It’s often people or animals communicating with each other. I also have something with freedom — birds represent freedom to me.” From birds of paradise to the lost phoenix, the animals in De Jong’s work are exuberant, imaginative and joyful, painted without a preconceived plan, straight from his imagination.
